PASSION vs. PAY (the debate on the church musicians)

I'm about to step on some toes with this one.........

I was speaking with an individual who happened to be a man of the cloth. And when discussing the different  aspects of the music ministry in different churches, we came upon the topic of passion versus pay. He expressed his disappointment in many different gifted musicians he had come across. He spoke on the fact that nowadays Pay has become the reason for their work in church and the passion was no longer present. Now by no means was he down playing the idea of musicians getting paid, but he expressed the absence of spirituality and passion. Now when I began to think about this particular topic, I had to agree. Are musicians now looking at church as just another "regular" gig? Have they lost sight of the purpose of the music in church...And have Pastors become so engulfed in trying to have the "beast" band and forgetting about the spiritual aspect of the music?

Back in the day, i can remember how individuals would volunteer to learn different instruments just to help take the services to the next level. Back then, it was all about how could we get our services to the place where the spirit could move. Could money have altered their perception?

All in all, I believe that musicians should be paid because, although gifted, many work hard to perfect their craft. Some even go on to study what they do, but I also believe that if you are going to work in the church setting, spirituality should definitely be considered. With every job there are requirements and expectations. And just like any secular job, a church job should receive the same amount of respect, if not more. The church is not just another gig, People are coming to receive something from the Lord and all individuals involved, from the Pastor to the usher should have that same mission in mind.

Be The Remnant and Come get Altared!!

The Southeastern University club Remnant Oasis/ The Altar Ministries kicked off its First meeting event in Johnson Chapel this past Thursday Jan 27. The club wanted to start the this year off right inviting all types of talent to come and partake in what ended up being an awesome experience. The night started  off with Jacob Tynes and his worship band leading us in high praise and worship. Then we were entertained with poetry, spoken word,  and dance by Caleb Berry. I had the privilege to partake as well, ministering in worship right before we had small group prayer. Overall the night was full of Prayer, Worship, Love, and Fellowship. This club is looking to not only reach the people on campus, but also the community outside of campus. Salvation is for everyone and this club is looking to share this ideal with everyone. To be apart of this wonderful movement or exercise your gift in one of the meetings please contact Kyshon Mitchell, Ruth Kelly, Giavante Griffin, or Damien Davis.

I SMELL BABY POWDER???!! The Prophet Manasseh Jordan Experience

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay now that I got that out of my system, I can share. Prophet Manasseh Jordan joined Pastor Paula White this past weekend at Without Walls. This young, 20 yr old prophet has made me a believer all over again. Now I must say that I was not a fan of his father's ministry. If you are not aware of him, he is the son of Prophet E. Bernard Jordan or who I would like to call "The Gospel Psychic". So when I heard this was his son, I was very skeptical of him as well. But curiosity always leads me to be a witness to what is the truth. After, the first night which was full of name calling accuracy and shock awe, I was still left with the question, "God what is it that allows them to hear you so clear?" I was very sure I would not get the second opportunity to hear this young man again, but obviously God wanted me to receive my answer. We ended up going on Sunday as well and was truly awed by Gods power and anointing. God spoke to me clearly during his message and said " They have totally availed themselves to my way." And with me coming again, it allowed me to witness the result of it. The highlight of the night was when this young man began prophesying to this young lady concerning a baby and than all of sudden he spoke up and said "This section right here, you will began o smell baby powder." I happen to be one of the ones who were apart of that "section". I literally smelled baby powder in the atmosphere, I could not believe what I was experiencing. Now to most, they would probably read this and question this man of God and probably say " How dare he make a magic show of the anointing God has given him" But him doing that was only to assure, we the saints, that God is real and he is still doing what he did back in biblical days. I left Without Walls with a new found desire to seek after God like never before. And if a minister can cause that to happen to me, than they have accomplished the mission of Christ. If you wanna be blessed by this young man's ministry you can check out his website to get schedules, broadcasts, testimonials, and much more at www.prophetmanasseh.com/. Allow God to do a new thing in you through this young man of God!

SHERYL BRADY LIVE IN LAKELAND!!

Pastor Sheryl Brady was live Lakeland, Fla at Without Walls with Pastor Paula White this past Friday on Jan 21, 2011. I must say, this is an awesome, powerful woman of God. She's in my top three of preachers I admire in the ministry. It was quite unfair how she had me looking so undignified in that beautiful edifice with the inspirational and anointed message she delivered. I was dressed in my "saved" attire trying to look deep, but when you mess around and get near some true anointing, you forget about everything including the day. The word that was given was entitled "Don't let life change your name" and I really felt like Sheryl had been following me all day the night before, because it seem like she was preaching on, about, and to me that night. God truly used this woman of God to bless not only me, but the whole house. You have got to experience the Sheryl Brady experience! If you wanna learn more about this woman of God, her schedules, and much more, you can visit her website www.sherylbradyministries.com/She truly blessed me and I know she will bless you as well.
